
The ingredients is for 2 people
Ingredients:
Oil - 2 tbsp
mustard seed - 1/2 tsp
Udad Dhal – 1 tsp
Channa dhal - 1 tsp
Tamarind - 1/2 Lemon size ( soked in water for 10 - 15 mins)
samolina - 1 cup
onion - 1 large chopped
Aubergene(Eggplant) - 2 medium size cut into small size cubes
Ginger 1/2 inch grated ( optional)
salt as per taste
Rasam powder - 1/2 tbsp or chilli powder(1/4 tsp)
water - 1 1/2 cup (more if needed)
Lemon or lime( optional)
fresh cilantro( coriander leaf) to garnish.
Cooking Method:
1.Take a heavy bottom pan fry the samolina until you get the aroma. No need to fry it till it changes its colour. Just for 3-4 mins in medium flame. After frying transfer it to a bowl to stop cooking.
2.Soke the tamarine in 3/4 cup of water and extract the juice of tamarind
3.Add 2 tbsp of oil in the same pan. Once the oil is hot enough add mustard when it splatters add udad dhal and channa dal. when it changes its colour to slight brown add onion fry until it is transparent.
3. Add the eggplant and ginger at this stage after once its cooked we can add the rasam powder and salt. fry it for 30 sec then we can add tamatind water.
4. Let the water boil then we need to add samolina slowely ( don't put all at once it might get lumps).
5. soon after you add samolina mix it well then you can check the taste. If you need to add anything this is the right time.
6. Uppma will be ready in few mins. Atlast you can add lime juice and fresh coriander.
